46) Squires Tavern committee meeting - April 21, 2001
The office of the Secretary of State has completed their review of the Squires Tavern lease. The committee approved the revised lease and will recommend that the town of Barkhamsted accept the terms outlined. If the town accepts, the State and town will sign the document, passing control and operation of the building to the Historical Society. Plans will be made for a possible lease signing ceremony and open house at the Squires Tavern in June. With the sequence of construction and ownership of the Squires Tavern pretty much determined, work will start on the actual National Register of Historic Places application process. Eagle Scout Brian Waltz outlined his plan to build a structure to house displaced bats from the building.
